Hubei Radio and Television recently published a report announcing that the China Harbor Engineering Company held a celebration for the launch of its prefabricated building smart factory at the Saudi Sedra project, marking the official commencement of the factory’s operations.
Located in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, the factory covers an area of approximately 200,000 square meters and broke ground in April 2024, with a total construction duration of just 10 months. During this time, the project team overcame challenges such as the harsh high temperatures in Saudi Arabia, cross-border logistics, and coordination of multiple resources, ensuring the project’s efficient advancement. The factory integrates a self-developed production management system with intelligent robots, achieving fully automated management from design and production to warehousing. Once operational, the factory will provide stable and efficient component supplies for the Sedra project and the future prefabricated building market in Saudi Arabia, helping to establish a competitive prefabricated building brand in the Middle East.
Yang Zhiyuan, General Manager of China Harbor Engineering’s Middle East region, stated that the official operation of the Sedra project’s prefabricated building smart factory marks a solid step forward for China Harbor in promoting the development of the supply chain and industrial chain in Saudi Arabia. “This launch is an important testament to the deep cooperation between China and Saudi Arabia in the field of prefabricated buildings.”
Ian, head of the commercial department at ROSHN Group, the owner of the Sedra project, expressed admiration for the “amazing speed” of the smart factory’s construction, fully affirming the factory’s advanced levels in design, construction, civilized operation, and safety management. “We look forward to the factory quickly achieving its production targets and engaging in more in-depth cooperation with Chinese enterprises in the ‘2030’ vision, as well as the follow-up phases and expansion plans of the Sedra project, to create a new situation of mutual benefit and win-win between China and Saudi Arabia.”
China Harbor Engineering independently built this prefabricated building smart factory to meet the demand for fully prefabricated villa components for the Sedra project and to lay a solid industrial foundation for future prefabricated projects. Wu Yuansheng, General Manager of the Sedra project at China Harbor, stated that the current alignment of the Belt and Road Initiative with Saudi Arabia’s “2030” vision will continue to efficiently advance project construction in the future, striving to create high-quality engineering and promote the application of excellent domestic products and technologies in Saudi infrastructure construction, contributing to the development of green and smart construction in Saudi Arabia and bringing more benefits to the people.
